If Jesus Planted a Church...

Speaker: Mark Nelson

What might it look like if Jesus entered into each of our contexts and planted a church? In light of the radical and life-altering story of the Jesus in the gospels and the early followers of Jesus living in the wake of the resurrection in the book of Acts, how might we begin to rethink how we are to be the church in each of our small parts of this very large city? This workshop will be designed so that we might wrestle together with potential answers to those questions.

Reaching Forward by Looking Back

Speaker: David Elliot

Christianity is all about the past, the present, and the future- all at once! Let’s dive into the book of Acts to see how the past can help us in the present to prepare for the future as part of God’s eternal plan. At the same time, we will consider the pitfalls of getting stuck in the past, sidetracked in the present and missing out on the glorious future.

Restoring the Gospel of Jesus to Reach Forward

Speaker: Jeff Butler

The Restoration Movement has done an excellent job of restoring many aspects of New Testament Christianity. Still, there is more work to do, especially when it comes to the gospel.  The gospel we and others preach is often thin, resulting in shallow converts, if any at all. Jesus proclaimed a richer, fuller gospel. To reach forward, we must restore the richer, fuller gospel Jesus proclaimed. This workshop will explore the gospel Jesus preached and that we should proclaim so we can reach forward to make disciples who make disciples.

A Church Story: The Rise & Fall of Blockbuster

Speaker: Dyke McCord

Blockbuster’s meteoric rise and stunning collapse offer a vivid parable for today’s church. Once the dominant force in its field, Blockbuster failed to adapt to shifting culture, underestimated disruptive innovation, and clung to familiar methods until it was too late. In this workshop, we’ll explore how churches—no matter how strong today—can face the same fate if they resist change, ignore emerging opportunities, or lose sight of Christ’s mission in our rapidly changing world.
